We love our Snoopy!
I have to let everyone know how we came to get our dog. It really is kind of funny! Keep in mind, my husband is not an animal lover (here I am already talking bad about my husband when I just posted about not gossiping about our husbands!).
The kids had been asking if we could get a dog. Dad said no. He is just not an animal lover, never had pets as a kid. It was kind of an on-going joke.
Back in 2004, our local Meijer store was giving away free goldfish. Jason (my dh) says, we could get kids some fish, I guess like a starter pet? I went to Meijers and let each one pick out a goldfish (except the youngest, still a baby). Then I bought all the fishy stuff; tank, filter, food, etc...those free goldfish cost us about $70. This began our journey of pet ownership :o)
The kids start asking dad again about getting a dog. He made a deal with them. If they could keep all five goldfish alive for one whole year, then we will get a dog. Goldfish never last more than a few weeks, right?
He had no idea what good fish caretakers we are.
Exactly a year later, we took a trip to the dog pound and adopted our Snoopy. Dh is the one who picked him out. To this day, that dog follows him around, greets him at the door, etc....it really is funny :o)
By the way, we still have one of those fish left, he will be 4 years old in May.

Your Meijer goldfish lived??? We're so jealous!! Was that the year they let them fish them out of the kiddie pool? We were there, too. Caleb, bless his heart, picked out a fish with only 1 eye!! :) Neither fish lasted more than 2 days! We then got a beta that lived for quite a while 'til I ended up killing it (oops!). We're on to a type of fish that I can't remember the name...we're not that great at fish caretaking around here! Bought 3, 2 still living -- at least for now! :)
Congrats to you all on being such good pet caretakers!! :) Funny story!! (Your kids better not give our kids any ideas -- Jonathan's allergic and I am not a pet lover, either!)
My hat's off to you for keeping goldfish alive for so long! LOL
My dh is not a pet lover either. We now live in a rental home, so no dogs or cats allowed, but dh did get our daughter a hamster 2 years ago. That hammy just died, and we got a new one last week. So that's the extent of our pet ownership!

I wonder if the Beagle will get best of show? I enjoy watching the dog shows.
Wow that is an awesome job with the goldfish, and your Snoopy is just absolutley adorable. Its funny cause my husband is not found of *little* dogs which is what we have, but he is very good to her .....and she follows him around like he is King, he doesn't feed her, take her out, give her treats, but she loves him best I am sure......lol
funny how that works out, its like they are determined to win the heart of the least interested!
