Menu Plan Monday

Here is my weeks' menu plan! Last week, I stayed on track on every night except Saturday (woohoo!). I am loving orgjunkie's Menu Plan Monday, it is keeping me on track. This week we are having company on Monday and a birthday party on Saturday. I spent $75.65 (there are 8 of us) this week for groceries. This does not include party food for Saturday (I will get that the day before the party).
Monday (guest day, family of 10 plus us)-Chili Chicken & Cheese Quesadillas
Tuesday-Potato Soup and Corn Bread
Wednesday-Chicken & Rice Mix, Spinach Salad, and Sweet Potato Casserole
Thursday-Mixed Bean Soup (I will add any leftover Chicken & Rice from Weds to the soup, very yummy!)
Friday-Ham, Fried Potatoes, Spinach Salad, and Corn
Saturday-Sloppy Joes and Dino Mac & Cheese! for my 4yo bday!
Looking at my menu, it doesn't seem like much fruit & veggies. We eat fruit with our breakfast and for snacks we have a fruit or veg. We are trying to eat healthier and spend less on groceries at the same time. We used to spend about $120 to $130 per week on groceries but have gotten it down to $70-$85 per week in the last 2 months. It takes a lot of planning and NO impulse buying!! BUT, it can be done :o)

I couldn't agree more about the impulse buying. It looks like you are doing a great job! Did you ever see this link about food for a week?

Menu Plan Monday helped me a lot with staying on track, but I am thinking about doing something like this to really analyze my spending. Sounds like you are already there.

Have a blessed week.

Impulse buying is why I stopped letting my husband do the shopping, he refuses to make a list and insists on walking up and down every aisle.

It's so hard this time of year to do fresh fruits and veg, nothing looks that good to me.

Thanks for sharing and have a great week.

My menu is up here

Great Menu, thanks for sharing :)

I couldn't agree more with the impulse buying, it's awful and completely blows your budget out of the water. You're doing awesome :)

Your budget is impressive--you're doing great! Your menus look yummy, too. This is my first week to post with MPM. Come by if you get a chance.

Wow you're budget is great! I, too, am new at MPM and that is one of my main goals...to reduce unnecessary spending at the grocery store!

Hi
You are doing very well with your budget. I'm finding my grocery bill is going down now too. It's a great buzz. Menu sounds good too.

Wow, thanks for all the great comments! What an encouragement!! I am blessed to live in an area that has an Aldi close by. I would not be able to do it without it. There are only a few items that I don't get there. Actually, my dh is the budget-minded one, so I can't really take too much credit :o) I have also been gleaning ideas from money saving mom. Have a great week!
